The Wand-erful Spoon

A great trick from the fertile mind of Chris Wardle. Imaginary ingredients are 'spooned' into an empty drawstring bag. The strings are pulled tight 'to keep the magic in' and when the bag is opened a wand has been produced. This is not a change bag and the children can open the bag and remove the wand themselves. and the cartoon fairy will help you with a trick. Very funny

Elusive Rabbits

A classic Children’s trick. Two wooden cut out rabbits 12” high, one white, one blue are hidden from view by wooden covers. You make them change places but everyone is convinced that you turned them around. After much byplay, the covers are removed and the rabbits turned around to show that they are now red and yellow. (Colours may vary)

Traffic Light Surprise

Three coloured blocks forming a set of Traffic Lights mysteriously change places several times until, in desperation, the Magician covers two of the blocks with the wooden tube and vanishes the third block. An entertaining trick that can be presented with a road safety theme.

Card in Belisha Beacon

Yet another Card in Balloon effect. A chosen card (I always use alphabet cards or cards with coloured spots on them) is lost and the magician fails to find it. Deciding to change direction the magician talks about crossing the road safely at a Zebra Crossing. Unfortunately, the Belisha Beacon that the magician has brought along does not have the traditional round top so a balloon is blown up (lots of scope for gags) and fixed atop the pole. Without warning the balloon bursts and the previously selected card is inside.

Mutilated Umbrella for the Children’s Entertainer

An umbrella is shown, opened up and displayed to the audience. Having closed it up, it is placed into an umbrella stand and a handle left in full view. Eight silks are produced and placed into a black bag and the magician states that they will be joined together by magic. After shouting the magic word the bag is ripped open to show that the silks have disappeared and the umbrella cover shoots into the air. Where could the silks be and what has happened to the umbrella? The umbrella is removed from the stand and instead of a cover has a silk tied to the end of each spoke. The umbrella is opened up and twirled making a very pleasant sight and getting an immediate reaction from the audience.

Complete with two umbrellas, umbrella changing stand and all silks

Parcel Passing Pouches

If you organise games for children then you must have a set of these. There are 9 brightly coloured bags with drawstrings that nest inside each other. You can make up a package for ‘Pass the Parcel’ in no time at all. The drawstrings are secured in the bags so they can not be lost and you can make the game go as quickly or slowly as you like by how difficult you make the knots to undo.

Every Flavour Beans - With the popularity of the Harry Potter films the time is right to re-introduce an old favourite. A black tube is shown that has brightly coloured circles on it. The Magician says that the coloured circles are ‘Every Flavour Beans’ and he will make some so that any children who help will be able to have one. The tube is shown empty and filled up with coloured cotton wool. As the children call out the magic spell the coloured spots disappear from the tube. When the cork is removed the All Flavour Beans are tipped from the tube – use Smarties or similar.

Lost Amongst Friends

If you are asked to do walkround or close up for smaller children this is ideal. It is also good if performing for a mixed group of adults and small children. A packet of four cards is shown – a well known cartoon character (eg Postman Pat) and three of his friends. Postman Pat is turned face down and one of the friends placed in your pocket. With all the cards face down the children try to find Postman Pat. Repeat as long as you feel comfortable before showing that Postman Pat has vanished and you are holding the three friends. You remove Postman Pat from your pocket. The actual cards will vary from set to set.

Call That A Present

The Magician shows an empty dull white box with a black ribbon painted on it. He says it was a present but he was very disappointed because a present should be brightly coloured and there should be something inside. He drops the present inside a square tube. The tube is lifted to show the present is still there. You can then go through your favourite magic painting routine. When the tube is lifted the present is shown to be brightly coloured with a red painted ribbon. But is there anything inside the present? The bright box is lifted and a gift for the birthday child has appeared.

Larger size. As above but the multicoloured box produced at the end is large enough for an A5 sized birthday card to be affixed to the side.

Call That A Present can be made to whatever size you wish.
